Program: Our program this month is the club silent auction. Bring the
items you would like
someone else to own and enough money
to take something new home as a
replacement. We will have numerous
items of equipment, specimens and other
stuff the club received last November from Dave Walling of
St. Johns.

Show
up date. A replacement site for club
show material is still to be determined. A club field trip to Grits Garage to
inventory club material will be scheduled when and if the weather ever warms
up. There will be one or more field trips to the Laylin's yard to sort and

Minutes
from the January and February Membership Meetings
Central Michigan Lapidary
and Mineral Society Membership Meeting January
20, 2005
a. Call to Order. The January membership meeting
was called to order by President Richard Miller at 7:38 pm at the North
Elementary School.
b. Welcome and Introduction of Guests. New member, Jan Rygwelski, introduced herself at the
meeting.
c. Minutes of Last Meeting. Generally
published in the newsletter for membership to read (and notify recording
secretary if there are any corrections).
In addition, it was decided at the January Board Meeting, that Board
meeting minutes would also be published in the newsletter.
d. Treasurer’s Report. The
treasurer reported that Midwest Federation dues and insurance were paid; and a
donation of $100 was made by the club to the American Federation Scholarship
Fund in memory of Florence Hill.
e. Announcements.
*President Richard Miller explained
the new agenda format for membership meetings in an effort to shorten the “business”
portion of the meeting. *Audit of club treasury/books has
been completed.
*Door prizes were won by Elaine
Bean, Lindsey Monroe, Milt Gere, Ernie Aughenbaugh, Lee Laylin and Martin
Jacobsen.
*Reminder - Potluck/Field Trip this
Sunday, January 23 at 1 pm. Additional
information is in the newsletter. There will be a Show Board Meeting following
the potluck.
*Tentative reservation for the
Masonic Lodge, May 19th for our annual banquet.
*Program tonight is on the Cranbrook
Mineral Museum.
f. Adjournment. Kara Miller moved to adjourn
the meeting, supported by Roger Laylin.

Membership Meeting February 17, 2005
a. Call to Order. The February membership
meeting was called to order by President Richard Miller at 7:35 pm at the North
Elementary School.
b. Welcome and Introduction of Guests. No guests present this evening.
c. Minutes of Last Meeting. Recording
Secretary did not get the January minutes typed to put in the February
newsletter; briefly summarized January meeting. Both January and February meeting minutes will be included in the
March newsletter.
d. Treasurer’s Report. Treasurer’s
report was given by A. Hukill.
e. Announcements.
*Audit Committee submitted audit
report.
*Letter from AFMS was read - thank
you to club for donation in memory of Florence Hill for AFMS Scholarship
Fund.
*Letter from Peter Sparks, grandson
of long time member Norma vonStuck (see note in newsletter).
*British Crown Jewels to be at
MSU-Kellogg Center, March 17 from 6-9pm, there is a $35 registration fee. NOTE:
Club meeting w/silent auction is that same night.
*Tulip City newsletter available to
look at, note field trips they have planned for the year.
*Aerie K. noted some of the upcoming
rock shows and events, flyers on table in the front of room.
*Society Budget for 2005 is
completed and approved; copies available if anyone is interested.
*Door prizes were won by Chris
Townsend, Christine Wood, Connie Snepp, Jennifer Martin, Kara Miller, Elliot
Wood, Milt Gere, George Heaton and Richard Miller.
*T-Rex “SUE” will be coming to our
show in October.
*Silent auction slips are available
to folks to use for the silent auction at the March meeting.
*Program tonight is on Sedimentary
Processes and Formations.
