DISPLAYS
One of the important features of any show are the display
cases that the club members and non members bring to the Show to show off their
collections or skills. Viewing these
displays give the visitors and club members the opportunity to see mineral
specimens and fossils they have never before seen. This is where learning begins and the inspiration for new
collections starts. If you have not yet told Neil Snepp that you will have a
display ready for the show, please give him a call.
Pres Says:
October meeting will be at
Ingham County Fairgrounds at 7:30. Come
out
whenever you can and help
put up tables, paper the tables, set up
everything for children's
day - see Show Chair Roger's request for help.
If you bring pretty rocks
for the Pebble Pond, please run a hose over
them and wash them. Otherwise, we start out the day with muddy
water,
and children like to choose
their muddy water puddles and not at the
"Tour."
Sorry, but I have to say it
again. We very much need members to
help
Friday morning at the
Children's Tour - even if you can just walk around
and keep the little ones in
order if they need it. All help is very
welcome. We will need help at the tables from about
10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
or so when our groups are
the largest.
Thanks to all who have been
working hard, our summer collectors for all
their contributions, the
show committee for all the communication,
phoning, and connecting they
did, and to all who worked at Grit's to
assemble the flats for the
children's tables.

Raffle
Prize Items Are Still Needed for the 2004 CML&MS Show Auction
--- A number of members have donated some very nice Raffle Prize items for this
year's raffle. However, we could still use some more items to raise the chance
to win. Prizes may be donated between now and the first day of the show. Thank
you for your support.
Raffle
Tickets are available. They are $1 each, or 6 for $5. . The chance of
winning are much greater at our raffle than with
most games of chance and a portion of the sale helps support our club's Geology
scholarship at MSU.
Remember your
friends, relatives & neighbors may wish to purchase tickets too. Why not
sell some tickets to them and help a good cause at the same time?
Your help is needed
to sell raffle tickets at the show.
Sales-help times are open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Please give us a call
to reserve your time to help. Thank you.
Shar & Milt Gere,
2004 Raffle Co-chairs.

In Memorium
Florence Hill, long time member of CML&MS passed away on October 11,
2004. Florence
was 97 years
old. She was an avid collector and loved going on field trips, far and near,
out West and around home.
Her
boundless energy and enthusiasm kept club members interested in our hobby and
therefore promoted growth in our club.
As
State Director her goal was to visit
all Michigan clubs. She was always willing to display
at their shows.
Florence will long be remembered for her interest in the rock club and
will be sorely missed.
Memorial service for Florence will be Fri. Nov.5th
