PROGRAM: Show Preparation, Schedule & Organization
REFRESHMENTS: Last names A through M - Please Bring Goodies
Program: It’s Show Time!
At the June meeting, July work-party, and September work-party, we made lots of things for the Show -- especially for the Children’s Tour. We made Exit Gifts, Petoskey Stone Polishing Kits, Rock Critters, Mineralogy Sample Kits; and unloaded, checked, and re-loaded the fossils and minerals in the trailer. Lots of folks brought stones for the Pebble Pond. At the September meeting, some people signed up for Show duties, but there are still lots of good slots open! If you like having the CMLMS Show, do more than just attend it. Come and sign up to HELP!!!
Location & Time: The CMLMS October Meeting will be held at 7:30 pm at the North School, 333 E. Miller Rd, Lansing, MI. Please get there a little early to help set up.

Member Displays -- One of the important features of any show are the display cases that the club members and nonmembers bring to the Show to show off their collections or skills. Viewing these displays gives visitors and club members the opportunity to see mineral specimens and fossils they have never before seen. This is where learning begins and inspiration for new collections starts. If you have not yet told Neil Snepp that you will have a display for the show, please give him the completed form below, or call him.
OFFICIAL “YES, NEIL, I CAN HELP YOU WITH A DISPLAY” FORM
You can count on _________________________________(name) to bring a display to the show.
I will bring: _____standard club case(s) ____pony case(s) _____faceting case(s).
I will bring something else; please draw a rough sketch on the back of this form.
______Hey, I want to borrow a case.
______________________________(name) can't display this year, but would be glad to let someone else use my case. Describe case or cases on the back side of this form.

If you bring pretty rocks for the Pebble Pond, please run a hose over them and wash them off! Otherwise, we start out the day with muddy water and the rocks don’t look pretty any more.
We shouldn’t have mud puddles at the Children’s Tour!
Specimens for the Big Rock Rack( Touch and Feel Table) (pet rocks). This was very well received the last several years .We need some new specimens as well as the old, if you have any to share, please bring them Thursday. Thank You.
Hospitality Requests -- Jean Ann Wahl-Piotrowski
Getting away from the show for nourishment just isn't possible for our dealers and the club folks who put in a full day working to make our show a success. Thus we try to keep everyone happy and healthy with our club hospitality. I need your help with the snack portion of the menu: salty snacks (like chips, pretzels, crackers), sweet snacks (like cookies, quick breads, muffins) and healthy snacks (like fruit, veggies, cheese). If you can contribute a snack to sustain the show crew, please bring it to Thursday set up, or any day of the show. One of the great limitations of the show facility is that there is no refrigeration. Recently, the weather hasn't helped out with free refrigeration outside, either. Does anyone have a small "dorm" refrigerator that we could borrow for the show? If so, please give me a call 269-948-9589 or e-mail jawp2@voyager.net. Thanks for your help; and, see you at the show!!!
2008 CMLMS Show Raffle -- Drawing at 4 PM, Sunday, October 26
Prize Items Are Needed for the Raffle! --- A number of members have donated some very nice Raffle Prize items for this year's Raffle. However, more items are needed to raise the chance to win. Prizes may be donated between now and the show. Please contact Roger Laylin. Thank you for your support!
Raffle Tickets are available. They are $1 each or 6 for $5. . The chance of winning is much greater at our raffle than with most games of chance and sales help support the CMLMS Geology scholarship at MSU. Remember your friends, relatives & neighbors may wish to purchase tickets too. Why not sell some tickets to them and help a good cause at the same time?
Your help is needed to sell raffle tickets at the show. Please see Roger Laylin at the October 16 CMLMS meeting, or give him a call to reserve your time. Tickets don’t sell themselves!!
Show Stuff: What you can do to help out!
Spread the word. Tell your friends and enemies. Post a flier.
Pitch in and work! Those who work two hours earn free admission to the Show.
Invite friends to help on Friday morning. We have never had too much help for the Children’s Tour.
o We will give a free pass to any non-member that helps on Friday Morning.
Sign up to help at a work station during the Show – Kids Table, Admission tickets, Raffle tickets, Spinning wheel, Silent Auction, Swap Table (if you bring material).
