APRIL FIELD TRIP TO BLUFFTON OHIO – George heaton

We had about 18 people show up for our field trip to the Bluffton Stone Quarry at Bluffton Ohio on Saturday April 21st. Seven were members of my Lansing Michigan club and the rest were Midwest Chapter Friends of Mineralogy people.

The morning began with some rain but by 7:30 am when it was time to enter the quarry this had stopped and the weather, so typical of a George Heaton field trip, turned out very nice for collecting.

The weather was nice but the mineral collecting was mediocre. I did see a few decent fluorites that some of us found but most of what I saw was only good for my Lansing Club’s Children’s table. A lot of children’s table material was collected which we will need for our show in October. All of what George Heaton collected was children’s table stuff.
