JUNE Bloomington Indiana – George Heaton
Our June field trip was to the rock swap at the Monroe Co. 4-H Fairgrounds in Bloomington Indiana and geode collecting at the road cuts near the Harrodsburg exit on Rt. 37, June 22-24. This event was blessed with the best weather they have had in years. We had comfortable temperatures with low humidity instead of the usual heat with high humidity of most years. The dealers at the show did not need to use their fans to be comfortable.
There was lots of interesting stuff to see at the show but I thought most of the dealer’s prices were rather high for a flea market type show so I didn’t buy anything. Only about half a dozen of our club members showed up at this event and I believe only my brother Roger, my nephew, and myself did any collecting for geodes this time. I suspect our Children’s Table will not have as many geodes for our show this year as we have had in past years.
