Septarian Nodule field trip
March 27 2010
We finally got a weekend day with decent weather, so at 10am we met at the Brenke Fish ladder parking lot in Old Town, organized the six participants and left for the West Coast (of Michigan).
After about a two hour drive (including a minor unintentional detour) we arrived at our first stop, a small Township park which marks the site of a former sawmill and logging community.
The pickings here and at the second stop, a County park down the road, were rather slim compared to my past experiences at these locations but we managed to find a few for us and a fair number for the kids table.
When we finished at the County park, a few folks left for prior commitments and we took a lunch break, then on to the third location (another Township park).
This was another small local park and unlike the first locations this one lived up to my memories.
We found as many (or more) here, as the first two spots combined, and in about half the time. This was much more like memories of my past trips!
I think everyone found a few goodies a had a pleasant day on the beach, in all a successful trip.
